Rules
« on: October 06, 2009, 12:06:49 AM »
Common sense is, one hopes, not yet dead. This topic will be updated in the near future.

We want this to be as friendly as possible. To that end, and based on the great posts that are beginning to come in, we are going with one primary rule until further notice:

Use your good common sense. When in doubt, the Golden Rule (or its equivalent) serves well in most instances.

No doubt the day will come when we will have to formalize rules. Until then, keep the above in mind and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or problems.

Beauties -

Unfortunately I must begin spelling out rules. Please read and abide by these rules.

1. Members of The Timeless Beauty may not post links to retail or otherwise commercial sites in the interests of their own or another's personal gain. With the limited exception of beauty blogs and forums, members may not attempt to advertise, sell, swap, or otherwise trade goods or services for personal or corporate gain.

1a. Members may post links to retail sites related to forum content as long as they are not affiliated with the site(s) and are not posting the links for personal or corporate gain. Use good sense. TTB is not a vehicle for advertising products for personal or corporate gain.

2. Beauty Bloggers and Beauty Forum Owners are welcome to provide a link to the main or home page of their blog(s) or forum(s) along with a brief description of their blog or forum in I Have a Beauty Blog or Forum!. If, in the opinion of an administrator (SilverCrown or Canie), a blog or forum is determined to be primarily a mechanism for selling goods or services, the post and link will be removed. If the blog or forum becomes stale and is not updated on a periodic basis, the post and link will be removed.

3. Beauty Bloggers and Beauty Forum Owners must also adhere to the guidelines provided by this post.

4. Members may include a URL to their personal blog or site in their Profile, regardless of the focus of their blog or site.

5. Discussions about swapping are not appropriate and are not allowed on TTB except within very narrow confines. Members may post a request asking anyone interested in helping with a swap-related problem to send them a PM. Members may point others toward SwapTawk and explain how to become affiliated with them. Members may post asking other members who are interested in swapping to PM them.

6. Exceptions to these rules can only be made by an administrator or global moderator. Exceptions will be extremely rare.

7. Members who do not abide by these rules can and will be deleted without advance notice.

8. These rules will be modified from time to time, primarily for clarity, so please pay attention to changes we make.

Thank you.

Silvercrown, I have a question. I've started a blog with a gallery of my artwork. Is it against the rules to have a link to this in my profile? I would not post it on the boards, as it is not beauty-related.

Veuve - Is your blog a showcase only or is the artwork for sale?  I am fairly certain that SC would need to know first whether you have any commercial interest or personal gain from the site before giving you an answer.

Members are allowed to include a URL to their own site in their profile.

We are also looking at an expanded members-only Let's Chat board that will be shielded from search engines and allow us to share a little more freely. I am inclined to think that this may be a good place for members to share things like non-beauty-related blogs and other sites that relate to member interests so that we can get to know one another a little better.
