Guerlain Exclusives - Do you think they are worth the price? Your Faves??

For the past few months I have been testing many Guerlain Exclusives and with the exception of the Gourmand fragrances, the hype about the 160 Euro upwards a  bottle has left me a bit unsatisfied.  I am a big lover of florals and have not been able to find a Guerlain exclusive to satisfy this craving.  My take so far.

Spiritueuse Double Vanille -  was FB worthy, special fragrance and I took the plunge.  

Tonka Imperial - FB worthy and I will most likely end up with one. Great scent and distinct!

Gourmand Coquin - this is your average Chocolate/vanilla gourmand scent and I do not understand the high price tag.  For me this is a cheaper version of Lea by calypso St. Barth.

Rose Babare  -  Not any more distinctive or special than any good formulated rose fragrances on the market.  It is a lovely fragrance but I just do not think it is a fragrance in the 160 plus Euro class.  Actually I would pay this price for Guerlain Nahema but not this one!

Liu - an aldehydic floral which quite resembles Chanel No 5.  I can see myself getting a decant of this but not FB worthy.  I sampled J'Ose by Jose Eisenberg at the time I was sampling Liu as the fragrances are somewhat in the same genre of scents and settled for J'Ose.  Smoother and a more distinct fragrance.  

Cruel Gardenia - I like this fragrance very much but would not pay that price tag.  Again a well formulated fragrance (actually there is no gardenia in the fragrance) which should probably retail from 60 to 100 Eur.  I would put this is the same price range as my beloved Nahema, my all time favorite Guerlain and Rose Scent.  

Boise Torride - this one completely went over my head.  The hype was so strong when I tested it I was actually thinking that I bought the wrong sample.  Lasting power extremely poor.  

Oriental Brulant -  I did love this soft Amber scent very much but I am a bit peeved with the lasting power.  Gone in 2 hours.  I would get a FB of this if I had money to burn.  The fragrance in and of itself is fabulous but I need more lasting power for my money.  But I am still thinking about it though.  This one is office/career proof... lol.

What are your favorites from the Guerlain exclusive collection or your favorite Guerlain over all.

My all time faves are - Jardins de Bagatelle, Nahema, SDV (new to the collection).

The only Guerlain fragrance I've worn, and it was a while ago, was Matsouko. Loved it.

The only one I ever wore was Shalimar.  I loved it years ago, but it smells different to me now.  Has it been reformulated?

Guerlain is my favorite line.  My favs are Cuir Beluga (my signature scent), Mitsouko, Chamade.  I haven't tried any of the Exclusifs.

I believe most of them have due to the new guidance which became effective at the beginning of the year.  There is a new flanker being released this fall which I am excited about.  It should be a bit more vanilla oriented.

What kind of guidance involves changing a much-loved fragrance?

From what I've read, it is now against the law to use original perfume ingredients that come from animals like whales, musk and other gland scents.  Also, certain ingredients are common allergens for the fragrance sensitive folks. 

Thus, the perfumers are doing their best, but cannot get the same depth of aromas with synthetics.

Ohh - thank you for explaining.  I suppose that was a long overdue change, but it's no wonder that some old favorites now smell cheap to me.  Or don't last.

My all time favorite Guerlain is L'Heure Bleue. I also love and have Eau de Guerlain, Chamade, Shalimar, Samsara, Jicky and Apres L'Ondee.

I haven't tried any of the Guerlain Exclusives. I have so much perfume that I have stopped purchasing any more or frequenting the frangrance board at MUA.

I've been enjoying the many that I have. That said.....whaaaaa! I want to try the Spiritueuse Double Vanille! OK, I'm alright now

This one is worth the price and effort.  

Yes - I do waste quite a lot of my life on the MUA fragrance board.  I do limit myself now to only buying scents which drive me crazy. I do not buy as many bottles blind as in the past.

I love Mitsouko.
I used to like Shalimar but I stopped wearing it a few years ago. Might 're-visit' it one of these days.

actually I am looking forward to the new flanker of Shalimar to be released this month.  This one never agreed with me but as it is suppose to contain more Vanilla, which I love, I am a bit excited.

Sometime this year, I will purchase Cruel Gardenia.  The price is ridiculous, but I really like it.  Much more subtle than I imagined.

I wore Shalimar in college and now wear Vol de Nuit and Chant d'Aromes.

Cruel Gardenia is a lovely fresh Gardenia which I love wearing in summer.  From all the exclusives, I find Cruel Gardenia to be the most ridiculously priced.  It is a nice scent but not in the price range.  

I am really wanting to get Vega.
