Fall Fragrance
« on: September 15, 2011, 01:31:58 PM »
It's time, ladies!  Time to decide what scent(s) you will be turning to as temps cool down and leaves are falling.

As for me, I have enough fragrance left from last year's cool weather to get me started.  I have my Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere (Love!), Clinique Aromatics Elixir(Don't hate it 'cause it doesn't smell as wonderful on some people!), and Yves Rocher Voile D'Ambre.  All winners, and all nearly full bottles.

I guess this means I can't shop for anything new right now...it will take forever for me to use these up! :( I do still wish I had a HG musk, though.

There will be a new version of Aromatics Elixir to celebrate its 40th anniversary (1971-2011), according to Now Smell This.

Aromatics Elixir Perfumer’s Reserve ~ “AROMATICS ELIXIR PERFUMER’S RESERVE uses cutting-edge molecular distillation technology from Grasse’s renowned Laboratoire Monique Rémy (LMR) to create a fresher, smoother, modern interpretation of Chant’s original.” Developed by perfumer Laurent Le Guernec; with rose, jasmine, myrrh, patchouli, orange flower and peach.

Can be found at Macy's.

Well, I've already broken out Feminite du Bois. I think Ormonde Woman and Vol de Nuit are next. I haven't BOUGHT frags in three or four years (please see, Recession, Effects upon pocketbook), but I still have enough to last the rest of my life.

I'm yearning for more 10 Corso Como, though. Might have to break down and get a decant.

And I'm not sure I *want* a smoother AE! I like it as it is!

Oh,  I do too!  The new version is probably for those not man enough to wear the original! :D

I like to wear white/green florals all year long!  Not sure what makes a "fall" fragrance?  Please discuss! :)

First, you should always wear whatever scents make you feel happiest!  The idea of different scents for the seasons is not a hard and fast rule.  Some of us, though, do gravitate to our heavier scents in cold weather and lighter ones for summer.  Some even choose completely different fragrance families when the weather changes.

A lot depends also on the climate where you live, of course.  My summers are hot and humid, so I have lots of perfumes that I do not touch during that time.  When the first hint of fall hits the air, I eagerly pull out all of my old faves that I have been missing for months.

You may want to save your very heaviest, dramatic scents for real winter weather, but autumn scents usually include notes of leather, smoke, tobacco, spice, resin, vanilla, amber, or even earth. These happen to be my favorites, so autumn is my happiest perfume time.

On the other hand, lots of people have a signature scent or type of scent that they wear all year, as you do, carollu.  I suspect that you are just not as fickle as I am, or that you know what suits you best.

Ack!!  Left out sandalwood and cashmere scents!  Lots of musk notes combined with these, too.

Today I realized how ridiculously happy I am that Glade has re-released their LE fall collection scents.  My fave from last year was Cashmere Woods, with sandalwood, amber, and bergamot notes.  This room spray smells so delicious that I am almost tempted to wear it!

This year I plan to buy backups.

I am not sure where my post belongs, under Hauls or Scents. Just did a decent sized Esty order and bought 5 or 6 scented soaps (yes I having trouble keeping count) Lots a interesting scents plus a few familiar favorites. I am really interested in the glycerin soaps -the scent is usually more noticeable than other cold processed soaps and makes my bathroom smell so good!

Well, I guess that would be both hauls and scents!  Be sure to tell us which ones turn out to be your favorites.  Is this a trusted Etsy seller or someone new to you?

I just started with Etsy. Sherries Scents and Soys is one. Very pretty designs and their soaps are lightly scented. They are mostly shea butter based but are branching out into glycerin mixes.   They are local, shipping is usually quick and have  a wide range of choices, but I am obsessed with finding the perfect scented glycerin based soap or one with shea butter/or goats milk, so I am checking out other sellers. My skin is getting drier and most commercial (supermarket) deodorant soaps make my skin even rougher. The ones with more glycerin seem to have better fragrance and the scent usually lingers in the bath. I tend to go for more interesting unisex scents but like some of the feminine ones as well. So far have bought from 3 others. I will let you know how that works out.

Soaps are a fun way to try new things without spending a lot of money.  They make nice gifts, too.  I hope you find some winners in your Etsy orders!
