J. Jill Question...
« on: December 15, 2011, 04:04:36 PM »
Last year I ordered a lovely sweater from J.Jill, and it fits perfectly.  I'm looking at their web site today, and am wondering if their sizes run true.  Do you think I can get the same size again? It was a wool blend tunic-type sweater.

I think the clothes from J. Jill are generously sized as a rule, so I would guess you could get the same size again.  I remember that pretty sweater you got last year!  It looked so nice on you.

Thanks!  My H asked for a Christmas wish list from me, so I thought I'd browse their web site for another nice sweater, and shoot him the link.  :reindeer:

I hope others here will agree with me!  Might as well tell him the colors you like while you're at it.  Men can be really dense about such things.  My DH thinks I made up the whole thing about color theory. :P

Ask Cougar. She knows J Jill products inside and out. She'll know if certain items are sized differently in any way.

Also, I agree about providing men with every detail, especially colors and size. Some are very good about it and others (who shall remain nameless) aren't. :P

Yup! It's Cougar's fault that I got the first J.Jill sweater.

I just emailed him 4 links with size and color choices.  Since all the sweaters are a tunic style again, I think the size would be correct.

Ahem, yes, I have the catalogs memorized. sersely. They are 99% true to size. I only have to take care when it's a close-fitting garment.

As for footware, it seems to depend on the maker.  Some are J. Jill and some are other brands (like Ugg, Corso Como, etc.).  Too bad you can't see them in the store. But I order freely and return whatever I need to.

WHAT DID YOU GET??????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cougar - I've only given my H a wish list of about 4 sweaters from J. Jill, so I haven't gotten anything yet.  And who knows if I'll get any of them? He asked for a Christmas list, and I gave.
We don't exchange big gifts anymore - we have the kids for that!  Also, we have a couple of J.Jill stores nearby, so he doesn't even need to order.  That is, if they carry petites in the store.

She "sersely" does! I've talked to her on the phone while on the J Jill site. She knows everything about the site, how to find what you want on sale if you are patient, and what's new, what's been around for a while. They should hire her as a marketing rep or something! One thing I've learned about Cougar - when she decides to learn something she leaves no stone unturned. She will find out the smallest details and fit them into her amazing memory, only to pull them out at just the right moment. I want some of whatever she's having!

Here's what I mentioned that IF he wanted, he could get for me :
If he doesn't, and if anything is left after Christmas, maybe I'll just do a little shopping for myself.  Now that I've gone and done all this research!  :rudof:

I'll add links in case you feel like clicking

Those are all beautiful! The first is stunning, exactly the kind of sweater I'd love to have but, living in the sticks,  would have no place to wear it. The others are all just as lovely and, for me, would be more versatile. I also love the colors you chose. I'd love to have you be my personal shopper any day!

If you find yourself looking for one later and they are out of stock, as Cougar would tell you, haunt the sales part of their site. As people return things they go on sale and with persistence you can find what you want in your size. I know this directly from Cougar as she has counseled me in the ways of J Jill shopping. :)

Also, if there is a J Jill shop close to you it couldn't hurt to let them know what you are looking for. Since online returns can usually be returned to stores the stores get a lot of items that I'm sure they'd be happy to sell to someone locally rather than return to the warehouse.

WOO HOO, I love them.  I have the long cardigan in the cropped version in a champagne (which I wore to a party). Thing is I'd also wear these to dress up a pair of jeans.  I have the shorter version of the long cable sweater in a sort of chartreuse and it's nice and thick but a cotton blend, so soft and warm enough in the house in winter. I have slightly different versions of the Luxe sweater and again, these are wonderful to just throw on in colder weather and these are warmer. Haven't tried the 4th one but Walnut is one of my favorite shades this year.

and guess what ... they're coming out with workout gear! A few items were in the store but not online yet. I'm expecting them have a little looser fit ... now this might get me to the gym as I might not be so self-conscious on my way to looking fitter :-)

I'm so glad you ladies approve! Now I really want at least one or two
There were only two other things on the list I gave him.  LM tinted moisturizer or a pair of those texting gloves.
SO we'll see.  :christmas:

Texting gloves are made so you can use your electronic devices without taking them off.  Some are made of a material that you can feel your keys through; others have slits for the fingers you need to get free; and some peel back completely.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any that make you faster and/or more accurate...yet!

I forgot to tell you......a J.Jill box was delivered to my house on Wed. I don't know why my H had it sent here.  Maybe he was worried if he had it sent to his office, it might come over the weekend. Now I'm wondering if he got one that I listed, or went out on his own!   And, which one??

I would say you know just about all you need to know ahead of time!  Safe to say the box was not for him, and you know it will be something you will like.  I'm going to suggest this to my DH next year.  I always get perfume and jewelry (no sizes needed), about five times a year, and it's time for something else!

That sounded ungrateful, didn't it?  I had better go wash some brushes, I guess. ::lumpofcoal::

just a quick post 'cause I'm exhausted!  :rudof:
My H gave me my #1 (winterberry) & #2 in my post below. As well as the LM Tinted moisturizer and the texting gloves.  I wore the #1 (sequined long cardigan) today to my SiL's house with dark blue skinny jeans and a matching dark blue long sleeve scoop neck top.

He did a good job, Lucy!  You deserve to be treated well and your outfit of today sounds so nice - special without being fussy.  I bet you looked nice with your blonde hair and those deep colors.

Is the Laura Mercier a re-purchase for you or a new thing?  We will need a full report, you know!

Yes, and I was very sparkly! Nice for the holiday.   However, the sequined cardigan is part wool.  I have to remember how itchy it is and wear the appropriate top with it.  My top of choice yesterday didn't quite go up high enough around the back of my neck.  Other than that, I love it.

Thank you! The LM is new for me after trying a few samples I'd picked up when Christmas shopping at Sephora for others.  I've been trying it in "sand" and "bisque" for a couple of weeks.  I chose the sand, though somehow I think I can wear either.

I'm so happy that both of these J.Jill sweaters FIT.   Often, with the tunic length, the sleeves are way too long on me.   But with J.Jill, I'm able to get everything in petite, so the sleeve length is perfect!  I've been wearing a lot of skinny jeans/jeggings, tucked into boots, which (for me) usually calls for tunic length tops.

Oh, Lucy!  That looks like a professional portrait!  I hope you have it framed to display.  Your sweater looks just glamorous enough to be special, and the color is great on you.  You look so glowy and fresh - really pretty.  And so young!

Now...who is that beautiful young lady you're sitting with?  You both have such nice smiles!

Still lovely.   :lust:

I fight with myself about sparklies too.  I love em, but am shy to wear them.  I have lately decided I'm being silly.  Everyone else is having fun, why not me?  That sweater is tastefully done - go for it, doll!  Wear the stuffin's out of that sweater while it is in style.  Too pretty not to.

I'm with Poppy on this one.  You can wear that pretty sweater anywhere you want.  I don't see it going out of style anytime soon, but why leave it on the shelf until next year?

I still can't get over how young you look, sweetie.
