I am going to try to find the new-ish Maybelline Color Tattoo taupe cream shadow when I'm around town this weekend.  In the meantime, I'd love some other suggestions for taupe-y eyeshadows in cream form.  I don't mind a bit of subtle shimmer, but nothing really sparkly or too "foily" looking.

I find the Maybelline turns gray on me. There are a few blog reviews of this product though and I've seen that your mileage may vary. I was disappointed to find it wasn't as taupe as I wanted it to be.

Have you looked at Estee Lauder's cream eyeshadows? There's one called Mochachino that seems like a taupe but maybe some purple undertones. I've only tested it on my hand though so I can't say how it looks or applies.

The Estee Lauder is probably worth a look.  There are a couple of Bobbi Brown shades, too...Malted and Stone.  I think Tarte has one called Slate that is a silvery taupe.  Make Up For Ever has a taupe in their Aqua Cream formula.  The only one I have used so far is Bobbi Brown's -- I can't vouch for any of the other formulas.

If the Maybelline works out, though, that would be great!

Marcia, have you tried layering Tough as Taupe?  I find that layering it with a matte powder taupe really works better for me. I also been using it for my eyebrows.  It's perfect.

Great idea!  And what matte taupe are you using, pray tell?

I's the Maybelline Tough as Taupe. It one of the toughest () one to find right now.  I went back to Target the following day I purchased the one I have and all five were gone.  :-[  But, I'm keeping an eye when I'm out and about. It's perfect for my brows. I've been using the wrong colors to fill in my brows and on Monday, I shrugged and tried it. I'm glad that I did.  You have about 30 seconds work with it after that it's on your lid or brow until you take it off. I've had Tough as Taupe on my lids and brows since 5am....still looks the same as this morning.  :eye:

EL Mochachino is my rec too. I wear it a lot and it's lovely. It has light shimmer that looks more like a sheen.  It even stays on my oily lids without a primer when nothing else does. :)

 :welcome: Alison!

I've never heard of El Mochachino and just googled it. It looks very nice!  I may have to check it out. Maybe my local CCO has it.  :excellent:

Estee Lauder has gorgeous eye shadows!  Their "old lady makeup" reputation has caused them to be ignored by so many, unjustly so IMO.  Plus their prices are not bad at all in today's cosmetics market.  Mochachino FTW!

I stopped at CVS today (okay, let's be honest, I made a special trip there) to see if they had a Tough as Taupe. Sure enough, there was one left, so what could I do?

Swatched it on my hand--looks good. Anxious to try it tomorrow. Am going to try it in the crease, with Cement on the lid below the crease. SusieQ, I may try it on my brows, too.

Le sigh.. I am so jealous of all the nice goodies you have access to. Here in Belgium, the collections are so limited.. We don't have the full Estee lauder range, just a paired down one, ditto for maybelline.
And my husband wonders why all my makeup comes from the US or UK.. well.. DUH..

Marci, your question is the exact one that has been running around in my mind for months now! Any thoughts on Nars cream shadows?

Ahh! I forgot to look for this while I was at CVS yesterday for my earache.  :o  I'm glad you found it though, CD.  Not that I need it, but after all, .....I've been following this thread, and well....maybe it would be nice to have!

I haven't tried or heard of any NARS cream taupe-ish  shadows that I'd be interested in. I will be listening in here to see any replies.

Last night, on a whim, I got Bobbi Brown Cement cream e/s off eBay. Not sure that it's in the taupe family, but swatches looked interesting to me so I figured I'd give it a try.

You may not have all the items on the collections but just look on the bright side of life: you've got the best chocolate, the best chips,TinTin, fabulous designers, gothic cathedrals, beer... I am gnashing my teeth with jealousy.
