Does this outfit look better with belt? Or without?

What do you think?  (belt is dark brown, as well as shoes)

You're so cute!  The skirt length with the tights is perfect on you.  I'm going with my gut reaction - totally unscientific - and I like it better without the belt.  I might like it with a narrow belt, however.  I have seen that done with a cardigan unbuttoned.

Thank you Listy.  :)  Your'e so nice!  Being height-challanged, it's not often that I find a skirt length that's just right without hemming.
I do have some narrower belts I can try too.  I just got this dress at Target.  It's sleeveless, but I thought maybe I could make it wearable for right now with the cardigan and tights.  But sometimes I'll put together an outfit in my mind, and it doesn't turn out at all how I'd pictured it when i put it on!

Try wearing a long-sleeved tee under the sleeveless dress for a different look to make it wearable now - I do this all the time with short-sleeved tunics and the like. As for the belted vs. unbelted version of what you have, I'd go with the belted, with a somewhat narrower belt. With the belt, it's more slimming than without.

I agree, both with the tee shirt and the narrow belt idea!

Love the colors and I think it works with or sans belt. But I'd wear boots with it. And I'd make sure the fabrics were of similar weight.

I feel you look fine without a belt, but that a belt kicks it up a notch.  It becomes an accessorized outfit rather than 'I just put a sweater on over my shirt and skirt.'

I like the belted version too, and I agree with a narrower one, if possible.  Really great outfit!

You can pull off both looks, Lucy. But, I do agree with a smaller belt. You look so cute!  Maybe a silver belt.

Listen you cutey pie you!!!  You can wear either way depending on your mood.

Wearing the wider belt is "in" right now and you're trim so you can pull it off.
If you wear a skinny belt, make sure it hangs loose (also "in" right now).

So you've got 3 ways to wear this outfit.
  • Complexion: complexion - light olive, super oily
  • Eyes: eyes - dark dark brown
  • Hair: hair - drk brown, drk caramel highlights, super fine

Perhaps with the belt. Nice legs!

Cute either way but the belt just adds a certain something.  You might try it with the cardigan unbuttoned and then the belt put over.

Mim, that was a favorite look of mine this late summer / early fall.  The cardigan over a skirt with the belt over the cardigan. Comfortable, too.

Everyone is correct, you are cute.  You might try unbuttoning the cardi and then belting.  Very IN right now.

Thank you, everyone!
Tupelo suggested boots, which was my first thought as well.  But, I don't feel like I have anything suitable.  However, I'm going to try it with what I have and see how it looks.
Also, some of you suggested wearing a shirt under the dress (sort of a jumper look?).  I'll give that a try as well.  I have plenty of room to wear a fitted T under.
Btw - Dress $25 from Target.  Cardigan $8 VanHeusen outlet.  Shoes $15 Naturalizer outlet.  Belt I had laying around.
