Sunday Riley- Don't Read This
« on: February 05, 2012, 10:23:56 AM »
I think it was the Non-Blonde who "told" me about this line at Barneys.  The swatches of the blush and e/s had me at "Hello".  Made an order [ebates saved me like 3% ... big whoops but hey it helped push me over the precipice].  Here's what I ordered along with the body lotion for Byredo Gypsy Water... my favorite fragrance of all time.

Blush - Honeymoon Night

Prismasilk Eye Color - 104: Lady Godiva

Prismasilk Eye Color - 111: Fool's Gold

I'm going to be honest here...I not only read SueP's post, but I also checked out this new-to-me line on barneys.com.  I felt pretty safe in doing this, because I am immune to its price point.  I do like looking at the pretties, however, and would love to hear your thoughts when your order arrives.  For example, how do the products compare to your other makeup and what is the deal with spherical pigments, anyway?

Here is the link in case anyone else would like to "not look" at it.

Beautiful colors, SuePhilly! Hope your order arrives immediately, if not sooner.

The names, alone, are so evocative..."Honeymoon Night," "Gypsy Water".... how could anyone go wrong with colors and scents with these names?

SO intrigued with Gypsy Water's description: "A vagabond story in scent: bergamot, juniper, orris, amber, pepper and sandalwood nestled in pine needles." No wonder it's your all-time favorite.

[whispers] the e/s has arrived.  I haven't opened the boxes.  Will try them tomorrow a.m.

I am confident I will look like the siren I've always dreamed of.  Look out Angelina Jolie.

Well, I am shocked to say that though I am glad I bought the products men did not swoon at my feet though a neighbor's dog gave me a sideways glance.

The eyeshadow is highly pigmented and creamy in a good way. I really like the gold color as its that hello-I'm-gold-but-I-got-some-olive-green-and-taupe-thrown-in and is a great smokey eye for me. Both eyeshadows are metallic.

The blush is wonderful. Though i still have to experiment a little cause alone it's too dark for me. I've found that putting a pale shimmery blush on top makes it perfect.

So there you have it.  No movie role. Again.

Hmmm....sounds as if you love the products but will have to try more shades in them.  Of course, that will require another order, unless you return something.  Are you going to keep it all?

If anyone needs another Sunday Riley lemming (ha ha) check out this review for the Soft Focus Finishing Powder on Fab Over Forty:

It sounds fabulous, and comes in both warm and cool shades, three of each.

I got my order today and everything seems just gorgeous. I now have a total of 6 eyeshadows and 2 blushes. I'm hoping to get a few more. The lipgloss I have is so sheer that it was my one mistake. It's gorgeous in the tube but barely shows up on lips.
