Have you found your perfect Nude Lipstick?
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:37:00 AM »
Maybe you don't like nude lipstick because it makes you look like a walking corpse.  And, each person will have different opinion on what she considers a "nude" lipstick.  Do you have a favorite nude lipstick?

I think I found mine. I've had since last December and just never got around to actually using it.  I was shopping my stash found this little gem. It's Revlon's Fashion's Nigth Pout. Love it!  :-*

I stopped looking for nude lipsticks a while ago. They can look very sophisticated and chic on the right person but  nothing brightens up my features like a pinky, mauvy kind of lipstick. Especially at this time of year when it is miserable and cold and I look haggard and wrinkly ( yes, it is very sad but it is a fact of life). When the weather warms up and I have a bit of matural colour on my cheeks, I might look at nude lipsticks...I am going to have a peep at your Revlon lipstick.

Chanel Rouge Allure 01 Delicate

I rediscovered it a few months ago in my stash..

NARS Dolce Vita...have used up many tubes of this in the last ten years, or so. I use a little Chanel Nude lip liner pencil under it, sometimes (over the entire lip).

I usually don't even look at nude lipsticks, because it is very hard to find one that works with my coloring.  They just look better on warmer toned beauties.  If I wore one at all, it would be a hybrid, like pinky-nude or rosy-nude.  Does that count, SusieQ?  I'll try to figure out what I have, if so. :)

Marielle - Don't forget you can have Three Custom Colors produce a duplicate of your discontinued favorite.  They only need a tiny bit to make it and the reviews of their work are excellent.  They already have Chanel Dragon on their list and it was only recently discontinued.

I read once that to find your perfect MLBB color, match your lipstick to the inside of your lower lip

It works.
  • Complexion: Normal. Fair/warm. NC 15-20 (MAC speak)

My favorite nude lipstick is NARS Barbarella. It's a very pale peach. I don't even know why I consider it a nude. My lips are certainly not naturally peach colored. I guess I consider it a nude because it's pale.

I don't think the perfect MLBB lipstick is the same thing as the perfect nude lipstick.  Is it?

I don't think the perfect MLBB lipstick is the same thing as the perfect nude lipstick.  Is it?

Good question. I think there are 2 meanings to "nude" lipstick.

1. Natural, MLBB - as if you had no lipstick on at all and just evened the tone, texture with a color that closely matches your natural lip color
2. More of a skin-toned color. Matching skin rather than lip color. And if not matching, still going for a color closer to skin tone as opposed to natural lip color.

Just my $.02 worth.

I still need to find a MLBB shade, but my 2 fave pinkish nude lipsticks are Benefit Lady's Choice and L'Oreal Fairest Nude.  I have repurchased both of these a few times.  They are similar colors on me.

I wear lighter lipsticks now than I did even five years ago. My favorite "nude" has some pink in it -- Too Faced Centerfold. I heard that a true MLBB shade should match your gums and maybe that's true -- if your gums are healthy, they are a rosy/pinky shade, right?

I'd read that before about using gums color as a guide  I can just imagine the funny faces I will be making in the cosmetics  aisle at the drugstore as I search for my Your Gums But Better shade!  :P

I wear various "nudes", some warm some cool, depending on blush shade.  A great standby is Bobbi Brown Nude ... yep.  Lots of Chanels ... nice GA ones.  I do follow the rule of using a *slightly* deeper lip liner so there is a definition between lips and face.  Otherwise, the look "muddies" and can blend too well into the background of your face.

The closest to a nude I have ever worn and loved is now discontinued, I think - L'Oreal Color Riche in the shade Tawny. It's lurking somewhere. Now that my hair is grey, I wonder if it will still suit.

It's old and should be thrown out but if it still looks fine, I do not care.

I'm going to go and find it right now.

I think Tenderheart by Clinique is one of my favorite standbys.  Its still around. Lately I have been drawn toward natural pinks and sheer tones that blend well with my natural lip color, not fight it. Current new fav is Boots #20 (sheer formula).  The super pale lip touted in magazines, does look does not work for me and I have pretty much swapped or pass them by when I am at the store.

My old favorite 10-15 years ago was by Revlon. Sandalwood Beige. It doesnt look as good now-pinks for me look better-- and the formula is not the same.
