Chanel Fall 2010 Nail Polish
« on: September 03, 2010, 08:48:51 AM »
Here are the new nail polish colors to go with the Chanel Rouge Extrait de Gloss.

Pictures come from a search I did on The Beauty Look Book:

http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2010/08/chanel-le-vernis-rouge-fatal-rose.html

Here is how she describes the colors (typos hers):

    * Rouge Fatal - dark burgandy red
    * Rose Insolent - vibrant candy pink
    * Rose Confidentiel - nude rose-brown-caramel-like pink

Be sure to read the post beyond the pictures, where she compares the three Chanel polishes to other products.

Sabrina has such exquisite hands. <sigh>

This review is all about Le Vernis in Steel. I have to admit it is quite pretty. Nice for fall, but I'd wear it in winter with all my winter whites and silvers. This is definitely a cool, silvery-blue black, not a gold black.

I like the comparison between Chanel Steel and Bobbi Brown's new eyeshadow Black Sparkle. You can definitely see blue in that shadow if you click for a closeup.

I finally gave myself a manicure with Rose Condidentiel. It's very pretty, and a great polish for the workplace. I'm just not over-wowed  by it. In fact, the color looks similar to my beloved Revlon Teak Rose. I'll have to swatch then side by side.

Will I buy it again? Depends on how well it lasts and whether I prefer it to Teak Rose, which is a fifth of the cost and is not a limited edition color.

I wear Teak Rose too, and it sure looks like that picture to me.

I third that -- it does look like Teak Rose!
  • Complexion: fair neutral
  • Eyes: boring brown
  • Hair: dark brown (over the grey), coarse, naturally curly but treated with keratin

Left to right (double click to enlarge):

OPI Madison Mauvenue, Revlon Teak Rose, Chanel Rose Confidentiel

Please ignore my dry skin and very short nails. I wasn't expecting to show the forum my hands today. I'd just finished my Saturday morning cleaning, so the skin is a bit reddened.

For this photograph, I used one thick coat of each brand. Madison Mavenue is darker than I remember, but the other two are quite similar. The Teak Rose is rosier and more brown, while the Rose Confidential has more pink and beige. At least to my eyes.

As for performance, the Chanel manicure (2 medium coats, no topcoat) lasted 3 days before it started to chip. Teak Rose was still going strong on day 7 (2 thin coats, no topcoat), when I added a thin third coat, which extended the manicure to 11 days. OPI manicures last about 5-6 days on me.

I generally paint my nails on Sunday night so my manicure lasts through the work week.

Thanks for the comparison. I find my Chanel nail polishes generally last 5 days before chipping at all.

I have the Chanel Insolent ... and the Pulsion (Insolent is warmer and Pulsion is cooler).  Love them both.

And I think I must have that Revlon Teak Rose ... gorgeous and wearable.

I have Insolent. I haven't worn it yet because it seems more spring than fall. I tend to like deep berry colors this time of year, but it's very pretty!
