old Sally Hansen Sheer White Tea polish
« on: January 10, 2011, 03:24:35 PM »
This used to be a color by Sally Hansen, long ago discontinued, and I still miss it.  Sheer, not quite white, YNBB color.  Not pink, not peach, not nude.  No streaking, lasted almost forever.  There are still 23 reviews on MUA for it - 100%.  I have been searching for a dupe ever since it went away.

Do you know one like this?
  • Complexion: NW20 (cool light), normal-to-dry
  • Eyes: Blue-gray
  • Hair: Silver; thin, fine, straight

Oh that soo pretty! Wow, you found it fast, Flower.  :spank:  I wonder if Essie has something similar?

I bet that they do. There are so many colours in their collection; at least I would hope so. It is hard to give up on a colour that works so well on you, or that you just love. But, there is the chance that makinalist can have the last four bottles!

It seems one could take one of the bottles with and go hunting for a dupe in a store filled with Essie or OPI, etc.

Isn't she a sweetie?  I can't believe she found this for me.  The whole line has been discontinued for quite a while.  Soon they will be mine again!

It's raining Sheer White Tea!  Who would have thought?

I have decided I will only risk buying two of these, until I see if they are still as good as new.  I have never bought old nail polish before - if never opened, will it be in good shape?

It should be. I have a nail polish from 1985 (Dior) and one from 1992 (Clinique). Both have thickened over time, but they are usable, and they have sat in all kinds of weather extremes over my multiple moves.

So I bet the Sally Hansen nail polish is still plenty fresh.

You better hurry, though! :D

You asked and the TTB ladies will provide! Good luck on your purchase, Listy. White Tea does look beatiful.

I wish I could wear colors like that. When I paint my nails pale, I get lobster claws every single time.

There used to be a Chanel nail polish that worked. I forget the name, but it was a beige-pink with a hint of gold shimmer. I usually cannot wear polishes that contain any gold or yellow, but this one worked. I guess it was a cool mother-of-pearl color.

If unopened, I think it would be fine. I had some once that had been unopened, and found it to be as fresh as a new bottle. I don't wear polish often, but I did use that one. We can hope, anyway. :)

Thank you. I am glad to have been of help, and to be appreciated. Thank you again; and I hope you enjoy your new polish.  :)

I found something else, as well:

Nail Polish When to toss: Opened bottles, after about two years. Unopened, they can last indefinitely, says Annette Soboleski, a nail technician for polish maker OPI Products Inc. Once a bottle is opened, however, some ingredients will evaporate, causing the polish to thicken and separate. To thin the polish and make it last longer, add a few drops of nail-lacquer thinner.

I've added this to my list. I've stopped wearing nail polish during the winter  months  but would love sheer colors for the comng months.

I have two on the way to me.  I am encouraged by the info that hopflower found, too.  I was a little afraid that they might be too old, but it sounds like I should be okay.  If I like it as much as I used to, I will try to get a couple more.

I will save you one, SusieQ! :-*

 Awww, you're so sweet!  :-* But, I'm sure that if they run out, I can find a dup. Hunting for a dup is always fun.
