MyPoints
« on: November 02, 2009, 09:59:07 PM »
And here's a new tip:

A friend had me join MyPoints.com
http://www.mypoints.com/

I joined 7/31/09 and today, 11/2/09, I have built up 3680 points, 3355 which are available to cash in.  For example, I can trade in most of this for a $25 coupon at Bloomingdales.

How it works:
Many of the emails you get have a button that if you simply click and read the client's website, you get 5 points.
Some give you a major number of points for ordering (like I did a Lancome order and got X points for every dollar spent).
You get points for referring friends who join.

CONS: You get lots of emails.  But I just save them up in a mail folder, then go through them in batches.  Most I just do the click and read for 5 points each time.  It takes barely a few minutes a day.

PROS: Yes, you're being paid to see advertisements.  But it's easy and some of the coupons (like at Bloomies or Macy's) are certainly useful to me for my makeup purchasing habits!
You get no spam for this; if you did, people would scream and refuse to participate.

During a haul, I turned in some MyPoints for a Macy's card:

And about 2-3 weeks later, in the mail arrived my Macy's $25 gift card!  Now I have to think of something I really need and use it wisely.

I'm off clicking more MyPoints emails.

I just wanted any of you that were curious to know the results of doing this.

I love MyPoints!  Would you believe that they sent me an anniversary e-mail this week -- I've been a member for 10 years!   :o  I've gotten some great gift cards through this program.  I've noticed lately that there aren't as many "click for 5 points" e-mails -- I get more surveys and more spend-money-for-points reminders.  Obviously, the 5-pointers and surveys are the easiest way to rack up points when my budget is tight (for the last year or so!)

Yes, I think there fewer 5-pointers, too.  They better watch out.

I tried a survey and after fifty million screens, learned I wasn't to be surveyed ... and now delete all of them.

I wonder what to do with my $25 to Macy's.  I was thinking my favorite Shiseido blotters, then realized I'm almost out of my HG, Chanel Inimitable WP.  You can blot with t-paper ... but mascara is mascara.
