Welcome, Amelia and good luck. I have lived with someone who suffers from anxiety and, although I am not an expert, I believe that exercising and socialising helps (if/when you are physically able to do it). Medication helps, but lots of people don't like being on tablets for long periods of time; you definitely need to be monitored by a doctor while you are taking anti-depressants. The response varies from an individual to another. As for skin care, oils are excellent, whether you use them to cleanse or to moisturise. I certainly find them very relaxing and enjoyable to use.
