Sherlock
« on: January 27, 2014, 04:17:40 PM »
The third season reached the U.S. on PBS last week.  We watched the second episode last night, when Dr. Watson gets married and Sherlock is his Best Man.  I laughed until huge tears rolled down my face.  I think I need to do that more often!  Anyway, I still love everything about this show - the actors, the writing, everything.  One of the few shows I would happily watch a second time.

I'm actually watching this episode now! I recorded it last night. I'm new to this program. I think this is only my 2nd or 3rd time watching. Hope I don't get too lost.  :o

Lucy - Do go back when you can and watch the first two seasons.  They only do three episodes at a time and they are so clever, fast-paced, and entertaining.

SusieQ - I have not seen any of Elementary yet.  Is it well worth watching, then?

Oh - last night's episode did, in fact, have a serious murder mystery to solve, along with the wedding hilarity.   I adore these guys!

Yes, Listy, Elementary is well worth watching!  DD and I love it.  That's why I thought to give Sherlock a try.  And I'm going to definitely try to go back and watch the older seasons.  I only got half way through the wedding episode because it's 2 hours long.  I love all his comments to the bridesmaid.  :D

The two programs are very different, but have similarities of course.  Elementary has Lucy Liu , as Watson, which makes a big difference!  And also being set in NYC.  I'm not sure because I've only just started with Sherlock, but I think Elementary has a more serious tone, and maybe a bit "edgier".

Actually, the previous Sherlock episodes were not this humorous.  They concentrated mainly on the case at hand.  Some were actually quite dark.

I hope you both enjoy it!  I get such a kick out of the technology update to classic Sherlock Holmes cases.  Just be prepared to jump in and hang on...the pace is rapid-fire. :wink:

Ahh.  Last night's episode was perfection, in my mind.  I am left feeling satisfied and eager for next year's installments.  Such good actors! {{sigh}}

Wait! So that's it for a year?!  The last episode I watched was the one with Mary and the shooting?

Yup.  They do three full-length episodes per year.  I am always left hungry for more. :drool2:

You still need to watch the first two seasons, though, right?  This is one of the very few shows I would be willing to watch a second time.  I looked for Elementary last night, but Netflix doesn't have it yet and Amazon Prime would charge for every episode, so I think I will wait.

Oh my GOSH! The part when she shot him, and he was going through his mind/memories, telling him which way to fall, etc....
WOW!

That would be his "mind palace" which is actually a real technique used to improve your memory.  In that episode, Magnussen (the villain) had one of his own.

DH and I just finished with Season 1 and love it!  We are streaming them thru Amazon.  WE LOVE IT!  We sat there last night looking for Season 1, episode 4 and of course, nothing.  Since they are so long, we can only manage one episode per night but we are glued to that TV.  THANK YOU LISTY for letting us know about this show.
